The number plate wires that pass through a hole in the shroud can short out and if it does, you can lose the entire harness. The West German Government saw a potential for serious problems and required a fuse to be installed on all Healeys imported from March 1965 on. The factory complied, and eventually made the fuse standard equipment in 1967. The simple fact is that every Healey, BN1 through BJ8, needs this fuse, and only a few had one fitted by the factory.
Installing an inline fuse in the existing harness is possible, but we decided to make it easy by having a small sub-harness made in England. It can be installed in any Healey, BN1 through BJ8. In addition to the wires (which are sleeved), the in-line fuse holder is wired in place. Includes all the necessary connectors and detailed instructions.
