If your car is fitted with a clock, alarm or coded radio and you wish to isolate the battery for security reasons fit an in-line fuse across the terminals of the isolator switch. The fuse will allow sufficient current to pass to operate these systems, but if any attempt is made to start the car the fuse will blow. If you wish to completely isolate the battery to work on the electrics simply remove the fuse as well.
