For over 20 years, from the start of the TR2 production in 1953 to the end of the TR6 in 1976, the Triumph sports car was always a driver’s car. Enthusiast brought these magnificent cars because they offered a touch more style, performance and technical appeal than cheaper rivals, but for a more affordable price than any Big Healey or Jaguar. The TR2 was first designed in 1953 to challenge MG in the sports car export market to North America. After its success the much needed and improved TR3 became available in 1955 with the face-lifted, but unofficially known as, TR3A produced in 1957 and the final version, unofficially known as, TR3B built in 1962. The TR4 proved even more successful in 1961 and whilst an improved TR4A was produced between 1965 and 1968 the foundations were already set to pave the way for the TR5-6 sports cars.

Durante más de 20 años, desde el inicio de la producción del TR2 en 1953 hasta el final del TR6 en 1976, el deportivo Triumph siempre fue un coche para el conductor. Los entusiastas trajeron estos magníficos autos porque ofrecían un toque más de estilo, rendimiento y atractivo técnico que los rivales más baratos, pero por un precio más asequible que cualquier Big Healey o Jaguar. El TR2 fue diseñado por primera vez en 1953 para desafiar a MG en el mercado de exportación de autos deportivos a América del Norte. Después de su éxito, el TR3 muy necesario y mejorado estuvo disponible en 1955 con el TR3A renovado, pero conocido extraoficialmente como TR3A producido en 1957 y la versión final, conocida extraoficialmente como TR3B construida en 1962. El TR4 tuvo aún más éxito en 1961 y, aunque se produjo un TR4A mejorado entre 1965 y 1968, los cimientos ya estaban establecidos para allanar el camino para los deportivos TR5-6.
