Apart from the MGB, no British sports car has ever achieved the popularity of the MG Midget. When they were current, these simple, cheerful, no-frills machines provided so many enthusiasts with a cheap introduction to sporting motoring that their place in automotive folklore became assured. From the early 948cc Midget MkI released in 1961 to the ‘rubber-bumpered’ 1500 Midget in 1974, these little sports cars are still loved by everyone, and with a lot of spares in common with the Austin Healey Sprite, these ‘Spridgets’ are still going strong today.
