2005 Saw the end of the Mk2.5 MX-5 as Mazda launched the 3rd generation MX-5, the Mk3 was met with mixed reviews, mostly due to the softer styling and higher ground clearance to meet the pedestrian safety requirements in the USA, which is easily remedied with a simple lowering spring kit, these issues aside however, the Mk3 was no doubt still an MX-5 at heart, with the smooth, ‘snicky’ gearbox that had become synonymous with Mazda’s best selling sports car twinned with a responsive chassis. The Mk3 came with either a 1.8 or 2.0 litre engine along with a 5 or 6 speed gearbox and the choice of a limited slip differential on higher models. Later iterations of the Mk3 featured updated styling and more special editions, all whilst keeping the core ingredients the same.
