The Jaguar E-Type is a British sports car which was manufactured between 1961-1975. It was known for its beauty and high performance yet maintained competitive pricing, which enabled the E-Type to become a motoring icon throughout the world. The E-Type was based on the Jaguar D-Type racing car, which had won the 24 hour Le Mans for three consecutive years (1955-1957) and meant it employed the racing design of a body tub attached to a tubular frame. The E-Type had some mightily impressive performance with a top speed of 150mph and managed to do a sub 7 second 0-60 time. After production of the E-Type ceased, its successor, the Jaguar XJ-S took over where the E-Type left off.
It is widely known, on its release in March 1961, that Enzo Ferrari called it “the most beautiful car ever made”.
