The inline fuse means a clock, radio, alarm, etc with a low draw will keep working. However, if anyone attempts to start the car when the knob is removed the fuse will blow and the car will not start for simple and effective security. If you want to isolate the battery for working on the car or for a long lay up just remove the knob and the fuse together.
