Classic Supercharger Systems
Superchargers have been used on cars and piston engined aircraft since before World War II in order to obtain maximum power without losing vital torque. The Moss supercharger kits give increased torque and horsepower throughout the rev range without adding extra stress to your engine.

MGA & MGB
The MGA/MGB Superchargers use an Eaton MP45 charger unit that features a by-pass valve. During light throttle conditions this valve remains closed by-passing the compressor, but then opens to feed the charge through the compressor to give maximum power when required. This system gives good drivability and maintains economy during light throttle conditions then boosts the charge the moment the throttle is pressed, giving an instant boost of power.

The Moss supercharger system produces 7.5-8.25 PSI of boost at sea level. Bolted on to a standard engine you may expect a horsepower increase of 40% at the flywheel. Just hold on to the steering wheel when you decide to press the pedal!

TR250-6
The Moss TR250-6 Supercharger system uses the same Eaton positive displacement roots-type supercharger found on contemporary OE applications such as Mercedes Benz and Jaguar. The supercharger is the latest M62 design, which features helical rotors and an internal vacuum controlled bypass valve for high efficiency and economic cruising.

The TR250-6 Supercharger provides approximate 6 psi of boost at sea level which would increase horsepower by up to 40% on a carburettor model TR6 with a good engine. American specification cars will benefit from a larger power increase than European models due to the lower engine compression they have. This kit does not work in conjunction with the Lucas petrol injection.

S&M 1275
The new Sprite/Midget Supercharger system uses the same Eaton positive displacement roots-type supercharger found on contemporary OE applications such as Mercedes Benz and Jaguar. In spite of its modern origin, Moss was careful to design the system to look like it was a factory-installed option that complements the classic Sprite/Midget image. The supercharger features helical rotors and an internal vacuum controlled bypass valve for high efficiency and economic cruising.

The Moss supercharger system produces 5-6  PSI of boost at sea level. On our otherwise stock test car, that almost doubled the rear wheel horsepower. Bolted on to a stock engine you may expect a HP increase of 40% at the flywheel. The kit will install on any 1275cc Sprite/Midget in-line engine.

Please note: These systems are designed to supplement an engine in good condition, not make up for lost power in a tired one. If your car has an old, tired engine you will want to overhaul it first.

The installation of a supercharger will exploit all the strengths of your engine to give you extra power. However, it will also exploit any weaknesses your engine may have. Please ensure your engine is in a suitable condition before installation.
